NEW DAWN TRADERS

our olive oil arrives

Yesterday the Grayhound Lugger sailed into Falmouth to deliver our cargo of Haciende de Queiles extra virgin olive oil.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day for this fly-by visit! The ship came alongside the Prince of Wales Pier with permission from the very supportive Cornwall Council’s Maritime Service. The sun was out, a gentle breeze and a high tide right in the middle of the day.

We unloaded 52 shipping boxes of oil - at 12 KG each it is a good workout. Thank you to everyone who took their place in the chain! We also unloaded a small and special cargo of tea, which the Grayhound loaded in the Azores. This is the key ingredient for Jack’s Kombucha - a local maker of that deliciously fizzy fermented drink. In time we plan to ship all the tea they need.

Thank you to the Grayhound Ventures team and their beautiful ship. It is always a joy to see old friends and meet new ones - stay longer next time! We wish them a safe onward journey and look forward to seeing them again soon for our next cargo mission.

A huge thanks to our local customers who came to collect their oil from the ship with very little notice! Many familiar faces have shown up for us time and time again. We had a space available for people to leave a message for the Blue Schooner Company, their ship Gallant and two crew members recently lost at sea and the six rescued crew. The ship was loved here in Cornwall, and the impact of the tragedy is far-reaching.

Thank you to everyone who sent us such kind and caring messages from afar. A reminder of our shared humanity and inextricable interconnectedness. Our joys are everyone’s joy and our loss is a loss for us all. We must feel everything in order to heal, personally and collectively. 🍉

We wish Sam Dickinson who joined the ship here an incredible next chapter, which sees him off to walk around the world. A unique privilege that only a very few of us have - a freedom to choose where we go and what we do. Those drawn to travel and who travel with humility, do an incredible public service - connecting us to each other.
